  28. 1) Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000/XP Fresh Installation
  29. --------------------------------------------------------
  30. Follow the instructions in this section if you are performing a new
  31. installation of Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000/XP, and you wish to
  32. boot from a device attached to the SiI 3114 controller.
  33.  
  34.  
  35. 1. Power off the system.  Connect the hard drives to the SiI 3114
  36.    controller and insert the controller into a PCI slot. Power up
  37.    the system.
  38.  
  39. 2. Put your Windows NT/2000/XP CD into the CD-ROM/DVD drive, or
  40.    the NT/2000/XP boot diskette #1 in the floppy drive if your 
  41.    system cannot boot from the CD.
  42.  
  43. 3. Press F6 for third party SCSI or driver installation at the beginning
  44.    of text mode installation.  Press 's' when setup asks if you want to
  45.    specify an additional device, and insert the diskette labeled
  46.    'Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATARaid Driver Installation Disk' .
  47.  
  48.    Press 'Enter' and select 
  49.    'Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATARaid Controller'
  50.  
  51. 4. Press 'Enter' to continue on with text mode setup.
  52.  
  53. 5. Follow the setup instructions to select your choice for
  54.    partition and file system.
  55.  
  56. 6. After setup examines your disks, it will copy files to 
  57.    Windows 2000 installation folders and restart the system.  
  58.    The setup program will continue and finish the installation
  59.    after restart.
  60.  
  61. 7. Wait until Windows 2000 finishes installing devices, regional
  62.    settings, networking settings, components, and final set of 
  63.    tasks, reboot the system if it is required.  
  64.  
  65. 8. See instructions in section 4 to verify controller was installed

  71. 2) Adding the SiI RAID controller to an existing Windows NT 4.0 installation
  72. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  73. Follow the instructions in this section to install the Silicon Image
  74. SiI 3114 driver on a system already running Windows NT 4.0.

  77. 1. Power off the system.  Connect the hard drives to the SiI 3114
  78.    controller and insert the controller into a PCI slot. Power up
  79.    the system.

  81. 2. After OS boots up, Click 'Start'

  83. 3. Under 'Settings', click 'Control Panel'.
  84.  
  85. 4. Select 'SCSI Adapters' from the Control Panel.

  87. 5. Select the 'Drivers' tab and click 'Add'.

  89. 6. Click 'Have Disk'.

  91. 7. Insert the diskette labeled ' Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATARaid

  103. 3)Adding the SiI RAID controller to an existing Windows 2000/XP installation
  104. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  105. Follow the instructions in this section to install the Silicon Image
  106. SiI 3114 driver on a system already running Windows 2000.
  107.

  109. 1.  Power off the system.  Connect the hard drives to the SiI 3114
  110.     controller and insert the controller into a PCI slot.  Power up
  111.     the system.  
  112.  
  113. 2.  During OS boot up, Windows 2000 will display the 
  114.     'Found New Hardware Wizard'. Click 'Next'.
  115.  
  116. 3.  Select 'Search for a suitable driver for my device
  117.     (Recommended)' and Click 'Next'.
  118.  
  119. 4.  Under 'Optional search locations' insure that 'Floppy disk drives'
  120.     is checked.
  121.  
  122. 5.  Insert the diskette labeled ' Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATARaid Driver
  123.     Installation Disk'  into A: and click 'Next'.
  124.  
  125. 6.  When the wizard indicates that it found a driver for the device click
  126.     'Next'.
  127.  
  128. 7.  If the 'Digital Signature Not Found' dialog appears, click 'Yes' to
  129.     continue installing the driver.
  130.  
  131. 8.  The wizard will now copy the required files to the system and start the
  132.     driver.  After starting the driver the wizard will display a completion
  133.     dialog, click 'Finish' to exit the wizard.

  135. 9.  See instructions in section 4 to verify controller was installed
  136.     correctly.

  141. 4) Verifying controller installation under Windows NT, 2000 and XP
  142. ------------------------------------------------------------------
  143. Follow the instructions in this section to verify that the controller was
  144. installed correctly.

  146.    For Windows 2000/XP
  147.  
  148.       1. Right click on 'My Computer' icon, select 'Properties',
  149.          left click on 'Hardware' tab, and then on 'Device Manager' 
  150.          button.
  151.  
  152.       2. Double click on 'SCSI and RAID Controllers', If there is no
  153.          yellow '! ' or ' ? ' in front of
  154.          'Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATARaid Controller', the driver
  155.      is started correctly.  
  156.  
  157.       3. To view information about the devices attached to the controller, use the SiICfg
  158.          Utility and click on the device from the list. 
  159.          
  160.  
  161.    For Windows NT 4.0
  162.  
  163.       1. Double click on 'My Computer' icon, select 'Control Panel', click
  164.          on 'SCSI Adapters' icon, 'Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATARaid 
  165.      Controller' should displayed correctly under 'Device' and 'Driver' tab.

  167.       2. To view information about the devices attached to the controller, use the SiICfg

  171. 5) Update SiI RAID driver on Windows NT 4.0 with existing Silicon Image driver

  174. 1. After OS boots up, Click 'Start'

  178. 3. Select 'SCSI Adapters' from the Control Panel.

  195. 6) Update SiI RAID driver on Windows 2000/XP with existing Silicon Image driver

  198. With the Silicon Image controller already plugged in and the driver already 
  199. installed.  Follow the instructions to update SiI RAID driver.
  200.  
  201.  
  202. 1. Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'. Under the 'System Properties'
  203.    section, click on 'Hardware' tab, and then on 'Device Manager'
  204.    click 'SCSI and RAID Controller'  and right click 'Silicon Image Ultra-133 Medley
  205.    ATA Raid Controller'.
  206.  
  207. 2. Click 'Driver' ,'Update Driver'  and select 'Search for a suitable driver for my
  208.    device[Recommended]'. Insert the driver diskette into floppy drive. 
  209.    Click 'Next' and complete the driver installation.
  210.  
  211. 3. System will go through the enumeration process and install the driver.
  212.    At the end of the process, click 'Yes' to reboot your system when necessary.  
  213.  
  214. 4. See instructions in section 4 to verify controller was installed
  215.    correctly.

  219. 7) Windows 98SE and Windows ME Fresh Installation Instructions 
  220. --------------------------------------------------------------
  221. Follow the instructions in this section if you are performing a new 
  222. installation of Windows 98SE/ME and you wish to boot from a device attached
  223. to the SiI 3114 controller.
  224.  
  225. You may start up the Windows 98SE/ME installation from CD. If either your
  226. Windows 98SE/ME CD or CD-ROM drive is not bootable, your can start up with
  227. floppy diskettes.
  228.  
  229. 1. Power off the system.  Connect the hard drives to the SiI RAID
  230.    controller and insert the controller into a PCI slot. Power up
  231.    the system.  
  232.  
  233. 2. Put your Windows 98SE/ME CD into the CD-ROM/DVD drive, and
  234.    the Windows 98SE/ME boot diskette in the floppy drive if your 
  235.    system cannot boot from the CD.
  236.  
  237. 3. Follow the normal Windows 98SE/ME setup instructions to select your choice for
  238.    partition and file system.
  239.  
  240.  
  241. 4. Wait until Windows 98SE/ME finishes installing devices, regional
  242.    settings, networking settings, components, and final set of 
  243.    tasks, reboot the system.  
  244.  
  245. 5. After the system reboot, right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.  
  246.    From the 'System Properties' , select 'Device Manager', right click on
  247.    the '?PCI RAID controller' and select 'Properties' from the pop-up menu.

  249. 6. Click 'Driver' ,'Update Driver'  and select 'Automatic search for a better
  250.    driver[Recommended]'. Insert the driver diskette into floppy drive. 
  251.    Click 'Next' and complete the driver installation.

  253. 7. System will go through the enumeration process and install the driver.
  254.    At the end of the process, click 'Yes'  to reboot your system.

  261. 8) First time installing SiI RAID driver with existing Windows 98SE/ME
  262. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  263.  
  264. If you have an existing Windows 98SE/ME system and just obtained a
  265. Silicon Image SiI 3114 controller card, you need to run the update program 
  266. to install Silicon Image driver. The driver package is located in the 
  267. Silicon Image driver diskette or the diskette provided by OEM vendor.
  268.  
  269. 1. Power off the system.  Connect the hard drives to the SiI 3114
  270.    controller and insert the controller into a PCI slot. Power up
  271.    the system.
  272.  
  273. 2. During the system boot up, the Hardware Wizard will display that it found a 
  274.    ' PCI RAID Controller' , click ' Next' . Select ' Search for the best
  275.    driver for your device[Recommended]'  and click ' Next' .  
  276.  
  277. 3. Check the ' Floppy disk drives'  and insert the driver diskette into floppy 
  278.    drive.  Click ' Next' .
  279.  
  280. 4. System will go through the enumeration process and install the driver.
  281.    At the end of the process, Click ' Finish'  to complete the installation.
  282.    Reboot the system if your Windows 98SE/ME drive is connected on the 
  283.    SiI RAID Controller.

  285. 5. See instructions in section A to verify controller was installed
  286.    correctly.

  290. 9) Update SiI RAID driver on Windows 98SE/ME with existing Silicon Image driver
